Shipstern Nature Reserve protects more than 27,000 acres of wetlands, lagoons, and Yucatan dry and tropical moist forest. It harbors an astonishing array of wildlife, including all five cat species of Belize and the endangered Baird’s Tapir. The reserve is a birders’ paradise, with a recorded 300 species of birds!

Bird watching
Early risers can enjoy a bird-watching tour with one of our expert guides and experience an excellent opportunity to see over 50 species of birds in one guided tour.
Botanical trail
Walk along the Botanical trail with one of our experienced guides. Learn about the 100 different native tree species and how they are used by the local community for traditional medicines. see almost 100 different species of tree and learn about the wide variety of traditional medical uses they are put to.
Observation tower
Climb the unique 65-foot observation tower and see an incredible panoramic view right across the Shipstern Nature Reserve and Corozal Bay all the way across to Mexico.
Crocodile spotting
Go out at sunset to the crocodile hide on the bank of a lagoon at Xo-Pol and see the crocodiles emerge to play and feed!
